On October 4 of this year, Baltic Operator Sp. z o.o., a company belonging to the Baltic Industrial Group GPB, which also includes Gdansk Shipyard, signed a contract to manufacture two offshore distribution substations for the Baltic wind farm project.
Baltic Operator will manufacture steel structures for two distribution substations weighing a total of 2,600 tons as part of the entrusted contract. Production of the offshore transformer stations for the first Polish wind farm in the Baltic Sea will begin this month and will be carried out in parallel at Baltic Industrial Group’s production facilities in Gdansk and Gdynia.
– We are pleased that our competence and many years of experience in the manufacture of structures for offshore wind power, and especially transformer stations, will be used for the construction of the OWF on the domestic market as well. This is because to date we have completed many contracts for European and American wind farms. Our company is gradually developing competencies in the field of construction for OWFs, and the acquisition of this contract is proof of confidence in our capabilities and manufacturing skills as a Group. The signed contract is not only an important step in the implementation of our Group’s strategy, but also provides a solid basis for further joint ventures with our business partners – informs Baltic Industrial Group President, Henryk Ogryczak.
The production of the distribution substations in question enters smoothly after the delivery from workstations in Gdynia later this month of two distribution substations for the US offshore.
The Baltic Industrial Group is the largest and most experienced manufacturer of distribution substations and wind towers in Poland.
