The Commission has published a call for evidence on design elements of renewable energy auctions. Interested stakeholders are invited to submit their feedback for 4 weeks until the call closes on 1 March 2024.
The evidence collected through this call will help inform a Commission Recommendation and guidance document for EU countries on design elements in auctions for renewable energy projects. Such auctions serve to allocate financial support or the right to use a scarce resource such as seabeds. The Recommendation and guidance document is scheduled for publication by the Commission in the second quarter of 2024, as a deliverable under the European Wind Power Action Plan. Action 4 of the Plan calls on EU countries to include in their auctions objective, transparent and non-discriminatory qualitative criteria and measures to maximise the execution rate of the projects, supported by the Commission’s recommendation and guidance.
Feedback received will be published on the Commission website and therefore must adhere to the feedback rules.
