Another manufacturing plant for the offshore sector will be built, as reported by Szczecin.pl. On Wednesday, a letter of intent was signed between the City of Szczecin and Windar Polska, marking an important step in the development of offshore wind energy in the region.

This is another major investment by the world’s largest players related to the production of components for wind power plants in Szczecin. Windar, one of global renewable energy sector’s leaders, will invest in Szczecin, opening its first Polish factory here. The ceremonial signing of the letter of intent took place on May 22 this year, with participation of representatives of the city and the Spanish investor.

“This is the future of which we are a part. Business develops where there are sources of energy, so we will support this project for the sake of our economy” – stressed the Mayor of Szczecin Piotr Krzystek.

The City of Szczecin has pledged to cooperate with the investor in creating favorable infrastructural and legal conditions, as well as supporting the process of recruiting employees. The local government will support Windar in cooperation with local communities, public entities and institutions.

“We considered various locations, but the commitment and support of the Szczecin authorities determined our choice. We have a huge challenge ahead of us, which means both supporting Poland’s energy transition and strengthening our company’s position in Europe” – said Orlando Alonso Villaron, president of Windar Renovables.

Windar plans to launch production of the latest generation of offshore wind towers. Within the boundaries of the Port of Szczecin will be built not only production halls, but also a storage yard and auxiliary buildings. At the beginning of the year, Windar signed a final agreement with the Szczecin and Swinoujscie Port Authority to lease land on Ostrów Grabowski, where the new production facility will be located. The investor says it will start operations in Szczecin in the first half of 2026 and plans to employ at least 450 people. The project is estimated to be worth €70 million.
