Polenergia and Equinor, who are jointly developing three offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea, have signed a significant agreement with Tele-Fonika Kable. The Polish company will produce and deliver land cables for the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 projects. Tele-Fonika Kable is ranked among the global leaders in the cable industry.

The Polish manufacturer, who is one of the world’s leaders in the cable industry, will provide us with critical components for the Bałtyk 2 and 3 projects. This is yet another Polish company we are partnering with in the realization of our offshore wind farms,” said Jerzy Zań, CEO of Polenergia S.A.
Tele-Fonika Kable is a leading cable manufacturer with 100% Polish capital. The company’s products are sold in over 80 countries, and it is a global supplier of high-voltage (HV) and extra-high-voltage (EHV) cable systems for the renewable energy sector.
For the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 projects, Tele-Fonika Kable will be responsible for the design, production, and delivery of:
85 km of 220 kV HV export cables, which will connect the offshore substation to the onshore substation.
38 km of 400 kV EHV land cables, connecting the onshore substation to the Słupsk Wierzbięcino power station, which is part of the Polish transmission system (PSE).
The cables will be 100% manufactured at the company’s plant in Bydgoszcz and transported approximately 250 km to their installation site along the Polish coast.
“The agreement with Tele-Fonika Kable is an excellent example of how Polish companies are becoming involved in offshore wind energy projects. We are particularly pleased that the production phase will take place at the Bydgoszcz facility. It’s worth emphasizing that this is yet another contract signed with a Polish company as the main supplier for the Bałtyk 2 and 3 projects. This confirms that the development of offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea is building a strong economic sector in Poland,” commented Michał Jerzy Kołodziejczyk, CEO of Equinor Polska.
The Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farms, with a combined capacity of 1440 MW, will be capable of supplying green energy to over 2 million households. The projects are located in Poland’s exclusive economic zone in the Baltic Sea, 22 to 37 km from the coastline.
The first energy from the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 projects is expected to flow into the grid in 2027, with full commercial operation planned for 2028.
In the next phase of offshore wind development in Poland, Equinor and Polenergia are working on the Bałtyk 1 project, which will be located 81 km from the shore. Bałtyk 1, with a capacity of up to 1560 MW, will be the largest offshore wind farm in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea and is being prepared for auction in 2025.
