A letter of intent between Rumia Invest Park and Baltic Towers has been signed in recent days, opening up a new prospect of cooperation on offshore wind energy. The project aims to support the local labour market through the development of innovative competences, as well as educational and recruitment initiatives aimed at future technicians and specialists in the industry.
The letter of intent was signed by:
Jakub Wnuczynski and Bruno Antunes, representing Baltic Towers,
Agnieszka Rodak, MBA, representing Rumia Invest Park.
Baltic Towers, established in 2023 as a joint venture between the Polish Industrial Development Agency and the Spanish company GRI Renewable Industries, is involved in the realisation of one of the largest projects in Europe – the construction of a modern offshore wind tower factory on Ostrow Island in Gdansk. The 6.2-hectare plant will be capable of producing more than 150 towers a year, with halls equipped to manufacture towers weighing up to 500 tonnes and 50 metres long.
The cooperation with Rumia Invest Park is intended to support these activities, as well as to actively train future technical staff. In addition to its huge scale, the factory will also create around 500 new jobs, making a significant contribution to the development of the local community.
This investment is key to strengthening the Polish supply chain in the offshore wind energy sector, representing an important step towards the country’s energy transition.
