The Lithuanian Ministry of Energy has proposed temporarily halting the ongoing tender process for an offshore wind farm to reassess the terms and conditions of the tender. This move aims to minimize the potential impact on electricity prices for consumers once the project is implemented. A draft Government resolution to this effect has been prepared and submitted for institutional coordination.

Given the tender’s current status, the Ministry has emphasized the urgency of the review. Institutions are requested to provide their conclusions on the draft resolution within three working days of its publication. The goal is to ensure a swift review and evaluation process.

Following a government decision to proceed, the tender process would resume in accordance with the timelines and procedures set out in the Law on Renewable Resources.

To recap, the National Energy Regulatory Council (NERC) re-announced the tender on November 18, 2024. This tender offers developers the opportunity to secure the rights to incentives for establishing a 700 MW offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea. Interested participants must submit their applications and supporting documents to the NERC by March 18, 2025.
